Markaz Garden: Dr. Muhammed Nurani Vallithod has grabbed the opportunity for the PDF program under the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Penn State University, Pennsylvania. Being a multiple project, the research will be conducted in University of California in San Francisco and University of South Florida respectively. The 4 year postdoctoral program on the topic “ The role of active social lifestyles and inflammation in the relationship between sleep and physical pain” is completely funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) , a part of the US department of health and human Services. The research is supervised by Prof. David Almeida and Soomi Lee.
Muhammed Nurani completed his PhD from the renowned International institute for population sciences, Mumbai on the research topic “Life-course Socio-economic Risk makers of Depressive symptoms and cognitive impairment among Older Indian adults”.
His areas of interest include aging and health issues, mental illnesses, cognitive disabilities, modifiable lifestyle factors of cardiovascular diseases, health psychology and micro longitudinal methods.
He has over 130 research publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and 1300 plus citations with an h-index of 20 to his credit. In addition to this, he has presented research papers in national and international conferences including IHEPA, IASSH, IASP and International Population Conference (IUSSP, 2022).
He is the recipient of various prestigious awards including but not limited to Gerontological Society of America Diversity Fellow Award 2022, KB Pathak Memorial Best Paper Award for a paper on Successful Aging among Older Indians , etc.
